Roman T. Blessinger, age 90 of Cherokee Village, Arkansas formerly of Jasper, Indiana, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas. He was born June 25, 1922 in Jasper, Indiana to Edwin O. and Veronica (Vogler) Blessinger. He worked in furniture manufacturing for 40 years before retiring to Cherokee Village. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He was a veteran of World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, within the European Theatre, under the command of General Patton’s 10th Armored Division. He was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cherokee Village, Arkansas and a member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Blessinger; his wife Sigrid (Menzel) Blessinger; two sons, Gregory and Terry Blessinger; seven brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include five sons, Tim Blessinger of Dale, Indiana, David Blessinger of Japer, Indiana, Jeffrey Blessinger of Jacksonville, Florida, Brian Blessinger of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and Patrick Blessinger of New York City, New York; four daughters, Norita Nigg of Jasper, Indiana, Sandy Walt of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Deborah Zehr and husband David of Chandler, Indiana, and Michelle Welp and husband John of Loogootee, Indiana; one brother, Urban Blessinger of Huntingburg, Indiana; four sisters, Mary Catherine McMahand of Conway, Arkansas, Annie Smith of Owensboro, Kentucky, Millie Merkel of Jasper, Indiana, and Leona Johnson of Sellersburg, Indiana; nine Grandchildren; fifteen Great Grandchildren; four Great-Great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel located in Highland, Arkansas.
