Alma Trana

Alma Madelyn Trana, 103, a long-time resident of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, fell asleep in Jesus on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her son, Stephen; and her grandson, Christian Starr.

Alma was born November 18, 1921 in McLean County, Illinois to Weaver and Mary Dulaney and raised in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Alma graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and later worked for a local savings and loan. She married Gordon Trana in 1945 and moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where Gordon worked at Ford Motor Company. They enjoyed many summer vacation trips west to Yellowstone with their two children in tow. Alma and Gordon retired in 1979 to Cherokee Village, Arkansas. When he was admitted years later to EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab Center, Alma obtained her driver's license at the age of 75 so she could visit him almost daily for many years.

As a precious wife of 66 years and a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ, her kind and generous spirit, and her ever-listening ear and encouragement. Her life Bible verse was Galatians 2:20.

Alma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Chris Starr of Warrenville, Illinois; her daughter-in-law Carol Trana of Little Rock, Arkansas; her five grandchildren: Rachel Trana (husband Bobby), Ethan Trana (wife Kelly), Ian Starr (wife Chelsea), Devin Starr (wife Brittany), Jennifer Carter (husband Ray); and ten (soon to be eleven) great-grandchildren. Her dear friends, Will and Maxine and Linda, brought much love and care to her life for which the family is most grateful.

Burial will be at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois at a date to be determined.
