Barbara Long

Barbara Jo Groves Long, 76, of Hardy, Arkansas, passed away October 27, 2018, at her home. She was born January 25, 1942, in Hardy to Darrell and Mildred Fraley Groves. Barbara was first a homemaker who loved her family, and she was a long-time member of Spring River Baptist Church. She also loved her community and worked diligently on the Sharp County Fair Board serving many years as supervisor of the Home Economics department and overseeing projects including the Educational Building on the fairgrounds. Barbara was actively involved in Extension Homemakers and held several local and county leadership roles. Her civic duties included working elections. Her hobbies included personal paintings, baking and decorating hundreds of delicious wedding cakes, and singing in a bluegrass gospel quartet. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Claude Groves. Survivors include her husband, Conrad Long; her children: Kimberly “Shelly” Redwine, Claudia (Dustin) Trivitt, Bryan (Jennifer) Long, and Mark (Lisa) Long; a brother, Kenneth Groves; 12 grandchildren: Chrystal (Josh) Birkhead, Kurt Long, Katie (Jody) Wood, Tiffany (Tyler) Phillips, Mallory, Addison, and Trystan Long, Dalaney Harris, Emily, Riley, Mason, and Timber Trivitt; 6 great-grandchildren: Christopher, Nathaniel, and Isabelle Birkhead, Whitleigh and Rhett Wood, and Ally Phillips; and many other relatives and good friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Monday, October 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland, Arkansas. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, at Spring River Baptist Church on U.S. Hwy. 63 north of Hardy. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
