Betty Lou LaFollette passed away peacefully in her home January 24, 2026 at the age of 87. She was born April 3, 1938 to Edith Roberta and Edd Lou Rodgers in Grapevine, Texas and attended Grapevine High School. She went on to be a stay-at-home mother for her children: John Jr., LouAnn, Jeff, and Shanna. In 1972 she married her beloved Wayne LaFollette. She resided in Stratford, Iowa for much of her life before moving to Arkansas in 2015.
Remembered as a sister, wife, mother, grammy, great-grammy, and friend, Betty leaves behind innumerable memories of her loving spirit, charming nature, and outgoing personality. She was involved in her church and her community throughout her life volunteering her time and talents. Betty loved to make art using various media, cook and bake her favorite recipes, and go “antiquing” to find the quirkiest old items. In her retirement years, Betty enjoyed camping as often as she could in Hardy, Arkansas. She treasured quality time spent with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and numerous friends.
Betty is survived by her children: Jeff (Karen) LaFollette of Ravenden, Arkansas, Shanna (Patrick) Anderson of Beresford, South Dakota, and John Stowe of Texas; a brother, Harold Sandel Jr. of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren: Mikaela Neubauer, Jax, Jessica, and Justine Anderson, all of South Dakota; Dawn and Andy Deason, Joey and Misty Vangness, Amber and Nathan Davidson, Katie Skipper, Brad and Christie Dye, Kim and Ray Busby, Mitchell and Autumn Dye, all of Arkansas; great-grandchildren: Patrick Moore and fiancee Brianna Glasco, Bryan Deason, Deyonna and Justin Jackson, Ryder Davis, Quintin Busby, Alan Busby, Kyle Skipper, Kadence Skipper, Halie Dye, Carlie Dye, Levi Dye, and Chevy Dye; many other family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Edith Rodgers-Sandel and Edd Rodgers; stepfather, Harold Sandel Sr.; husband, Wayne LaFollette; daughter, LouAnn Stowe; sisters, Ada Scott and Gloria Martin; and grandson Ryan Neubauer.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home, 1540 Highway 62/412, Highland, Arkansas.
