Howard McGarrah

Howard Junior McGarrah, 82, of rural Hardy, Arkansas passed away January 18, 2023 at his home. He was born November 14, 1940 in Frisco, Arkansas to Cole Younger and Ida Mae Birge McGarrah and was a member of quite a large family. He was a self-employed tree trimmer by trade and loved deer hunting and fishing. Howard was a Christian and believed the Message of the Hour with all his heart. He played the guitar and mandolin and enjoyed good gospel singing, all types of music, especially bluegrass. Fellowship with his friends highlighted many days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Olga Grizzle; and two brothers, Manuel & Kenny. Survivors include his son, David of Williford, Arkansas; daughters: Debra McGinty (Sean) of Casa Grande, Arizona, Teresa Waddell (Ed) of Charlestown, Indiana, and Jessica James-Puckett (Logan) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; seven grandchildren: Amber, Robyn, Kama, Caleb, Isaac, Landon, and Jaedon; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Herman; four sisters: Edna Hazen, Almeda Linn, Shirley Linn, and Sue Lane; many other relatives and good friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Monday, January 23, from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland, Arkansas. Bro. David Siler will officiate, and burial will follow in Eagle's Rest Cemetery north of Hardy on Highway 175. Arrangements are entrusted to Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Arkansas.
