James Bernard Dewey was born the son of Bernard and Harriet Estelle (Huber) Dewey in Sterling, Illinois on November 16, 1941. He departed this life in Ash Flat, Arkansas on October 22, 2024 at the age of 82 years.
Jim proudly served as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard. He loved to golf and the many hours on the water in his boats. Jim especially enjoyed time spent in the restoration of old cars. He turned his passion for cars into his livelihood and started his own business, Sterling Restorations, in 1976, where he brought antique, collectible, and exotic cars back to their original glory. He earned some of the highest awards in the industry at world-class car shows all over the country. He ran the small family business until he retired to Arkansas in 2010 with Shirley, his wife of 54 years. The only thing that surpassed his love of cars, boating, and golfing was the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of the home in Cherokee Village, Arkansas; daughter, Kelley J. Weitkemper and husband Paul of Pflugerville, Texas; son, James E. Dewey and wife Chris of Sterling, Illinois; one granddaughter, Morgan; other relatives and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.
