Roger Messer

July 30, 1941 — March 7, 2026

Roger Lee Messer of Williford, Arkansas passed away peacefully at the VA hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  He was born in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Kindness was his prayer, family his sanctuary.                                                                                                    In the well of his soul, his love flows eternal. "Love never fails." - 1 Corinthians 13:8

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1962. He showed honor, courage, and commitment throughout his life. After his military service, he built a successful career as a mechanic and business owner in Hardy, Arkansas, and later worked for Madison Drilling (water wells) in Williford until his retirement.

On February 23, 1963, Roger married the love of his life, Katheleen (Hoover) Messer. Together they raised three children: Roger Lee, Angela, and Joe, all who survive him. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Zac (Annie), Whitney, Jacob, Jessica (John), and Christopher; as well as great-grandchildren: Natalie, DJ, Bailey, Magick, Kylee, and Xander.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Velma Annie (Rich) and Arthur Rex Messer; his loving wife, Katheleen; his brothers, Robert and Russel Rich; his sisters: Norma Meyer, Ruth Messer, and Elizabeth Rugg.

He is also survived by his brother, Dave Messer; brother-in-law, Bruce Smith; and sister-in-law, Judy Hoover Warning.

Roger had a lifelong passion for automobiles and was known for his mechanical skills, generous spirit, and unwavering work ethic. He was a man who could fix anything and always had a story to share.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and his many friends.
