Virginia Watkins

January 16, 1943 — July 7, 2025

Virginia Arlene Watkins, 82, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2025, following a courageous and swift battle with lung cancer. She was born January 16, 1943 to Eve and Johnie Williams in Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in California where she met William “Bill” Watkins. The two were married October 1, 1960, and they were married 55 years before Bill’s passing in 2015. Virginia devoted much of her life to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, raising four children together with her husband. Her 55 years of marriage were a testimony to that deep love and commitment.

Virginia spent several years traveling the country with her husband in their later years with his profession as a truck driver. When he retired, she devoted herself to his care until his passing. She always enjoyed her pets, and treated them like family. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her friends and caregivers at EagleCrest Nursing Home where she most recently resided; there she was known for her kindness and sweet demeanor and personality. She enjoyed the activities and outings such as shopping and eating out. She liked collecting trinkets, and one of her most recent favorites was owls.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johnie Williams; her granddaughter, Elise Graham; her brother, Mike Williams; her husband, William Watkins; her grandson, Paul Mitchum; and her mother, Eve Seiler.

Virginia is survived by her four children: Patty (Steve) Marshall of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; Tina Mitchum of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; and Bill (Shelia) Watkins of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; and Angela (Steve) Moseley of Commerce City, Colorado; twenty grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Rick Williams (and family); her sister, Suezi Lanham (and family), her sister, Jennifer Martin (and family); her sister, Terry Zornes (and family); and her sister, Sybil Constable (and family).

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family, friends, and caregivers will cherish her memory in their hearts until they meet again.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on August 23, 2025, at Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland, Arkansas. The service will be officiated by Rev. Dillon Ham.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, fully healed, and rejoicing in the presence of Jesus and her loved ones who have gone before her.
