Vlasta "Val" Pour

August 16, 1923 — January 25, 2022

Val passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2022. She was 98 years young. She was predeceased by her three sisters: Stella, Vera, and Olga. Val is survived by her partner of 70+ years, Lois Mock of Arkansas; nieces, Cindy Cartledge and husband Louie Wiegers of Alaska and Lori Cartledge of Arizona; nephew, Charles Cartledge and wife Mary of Virginia. She was born August 16, 1923 in Park Falls, Wisconsin and left after high school earning a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree from Franklin Hospital in Minneapolis and a Bookkeeping Certificate from Lane Bryant College in Chicago. She spent her working years at Time Inc in Chicago and retired with Lois to Cherokee Village in 1980. Val was quite active in the Village as a member of the CV Women's Golf Association, the League of Women Voters, Lifeline coordinator, CV United Methodist Church, and Friends of Homeless Animals. She has the distinction of making a "hole in one, not once but twice. She was very good at golf! She lived life with gusto and was extremely active right up to her passing. She was known for throwing a birthday party every year and was thrilled that her nieces attended each event to celebrate with her up until COVID interfered with social gatherings. Val was loved by so many. She always had a smile on her face and saw the positive in life. She will be missed so much.
